HERE ARE SOME OF THE QUESTIONS, AND ANSWERS TO THINGS I AM ASKED THE MOST.

Got a Question?
?What materials do you use?
I use an array of professional grade brands. Pencil brands include Faber-Castell Polychromos, Caran d’Ache Luminence & Pablo and Prismacolor Premiere. From these brands I only use the pencils with the highest lightfast ratings to ensure my work stands the test of time. Paper brands include Stonehenge Sheets, Fabriano Artistico watercolour paper and Clairefontaine Pastelmat all of which are acid free and archival.
?You sometimes refer to coloured pencil work as “painting”, why is that?
The technique I use involves blending multiple layers of coloured pencil with paint solvent. Adding the solvent liquefies the coloured pencil so it can be moved and manipulated like paint. The end result also thus looks more painterly than like a drawing?
?Are coloured pencil paintings archival?
Yes! So long as you use professional grade, archival materials (which I do) coloured pencil paintings can last just as long as the more commonly used art mediums including oils and acrylic paints. Hanging a finished work out of direct sunlight and using uv protective glass will prolong the life of any artwork for longer.
?Do You Take Commissions?
I do so long as I have a crisp, high resolution photo reference to work from. I need to know the correct colouring and to see all the special little marks and features that makes each subject unique! A blurry reference with harsh shadows and poor lighting will result in an unsatisfactory painting.

?Will You Paint My Pet for Free?
Sorry but no. A painting can take anything up to 80 hours to complete (sometimes more). This is how I make a living and I don’t know anyone who will work that long for free.
